Teamwork is the topic of a new exercise that tested students around the world. Representatives from more than 50 economies took part, and seven of the top ten scores came from the Asia Pacific. HPR’s Bill Dorman has more in today’s Asia Minute.

You hear the term “Asia Pacific” here on Hawaii Public Radio a lot. It’s the term most journalists and scholars use to describe our part of the world, and it’s in the name of the organization whose conference President Trump will attend later this week in Vietnam. But as he tours the region, the President has been using a different term – “the Indo-Pacific.” And, as we hear from Neal Conan in today’s Pacific News Minute, it’s meant to convey a message.

Honolulu has been named the most livable city in the United States. That’s according to a new list compiled by The Economist Intelligence Unit. When it comes to the world’s top ten, half the cities are in the Asia Pacific. HPR’s Bill Dorman has more in today’s Asia Minute.

Dance in Tonga is still a village thing, and people devote hours daily after work to practice for important occasions.  Separate groups of men and women perform, sometimes in spectacular groups of several hundred at a time, with intricate hand gestures, bobbing feather head pieces in unison.   HPR’s Noe Tanigawa reports some of Tonga’s finest will be here next week for the Asia Pacific Dance Festival.
