Hawai'i County’s Mayor has about three weeks to send a budget to the County Council. Since 2000, the budget has increased more than 250 percent. That’s a concern for county property owners, who are the primary source of funds. From Hawai'i Island, Sherry Bracken has more.

The Governor delivered the first draft of his 2015-2017 Biennium Budget today to the state Legislature as required by law.  But as HPR’s Wayne Yoshioka reports, that first draft will likely change.

The Honolulu City Council Budget Committee passed a bill today that would re-start the bidding process for the leasehold sale of the city’s affordable housing properties.  That, following the failure of the highest bidder to meet financing deadlines by the end of last year.   HPR’s Wayne Yoshioka reports.

The State had an $844 million budget surplus last year and the 4 counties are now asking the legislature to reinstate their share of tourism revenues.   HPR’s Wayne Yoshioka reports.

Governor Neil Abercrombie submitted his administration’s supplemental spending plan for the next two fiscal years to the State legislature today.   Total spending equates to about 12 billion dollars each year.   HPR’s Wayne Yoshioka reports.     

It's that time of year, when Mayors submit their budgets to County Councils. In Hawaii County, the main headline from Mayor Billy Kenoi's budget is a proposal to raise property taxes. From the Big Island, HPR's Sherry Bracken tells us more.
