For Stargazer this week, we have a nice line-up of morning time planets to look for and a return visit to dwarf planet Ceres where NASA is coming up with some incredible new photos. Hear the report with HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence and Christopher Phillips.

Sax player and songwriter Kenny G is continuing a four-night run at the Blue Note Hawai'i in Waikiki through Sunday. While the musician has a reputation as one of the top artists in the "smooth jazz" genre, what may not be as well known is how his career began at an early age with a serious test of his abilities, onstage with a legendary voice in music.

This week Helping Hand welcomes back Honolulu Habitat for Humanity in advance of their next build scheduled for February, and we also learn about a new program that helps keep people safely and affordably in their home, called Home Preservation. Hear HPR ATC Host Dave Lawrence speak with Honolulu Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Jim Murphy.

Featuring music recorded over the last five hundred years, this unusual guitar duo, Frank Vignola and Vinnie Raniolo, are touring Hawai'i now; a show is on Maui tonight and several are ahead on Hawai'i Island.

This week on Stargazer, in addition to hearing what we can look for in our dark island skies, it’s a trip literally to the edge of the universe as we know it. We'll hear about the newly discovered cluster of galaxies that utilized three NASA tools: the Chandra X-Ray Observatory, the Hubble Space Telescope, and the Spitzer Space Telescope, to observe Galaxy Cluster IDCS 1426. HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence speaks with Christopher Phillips.

Helping Hand airs on All Things Considered on HPR1 Friday afternoons and tries to put the spotlight on an organization, topic or event that offers assistance to the disabled and the most vulnerable with local ATC host Dave Lawrence.

For decades, New Jersey band Monster Magnet have pursued a musical path utilizing vintage recording gear and instruments to create an unusual mix of soulful psychedelic hard rock. Their latest album is Cobras and Fire (The Mastermind Redux). Band founder Dave Wyndorf discussed the project with HPR All Things Considered local host Dave Lawrence.

As Hawai’i grapples with the most devastating homeless crisis in the United States on a per capita basis, this week Helping Hand welcomes back IHS – the Institute for Human Services. Clinical Director Jerry Coffee joins HPR All Things Considered Local Host Dave Lawrence for a conversation.
