Geoff Tate has been making music professionally since the early 1980's. For decades the songwriter and multi-instrumentalist was the vocalist for the Seattle progressive metal band Queensryche.

This week for Stargazer, there are several key planets to try and spot, and a new space telescope project to learn about as HPR All Things Considered Host Dave Lawrence speaks with Christopher Phillips from the Mauna Kea Astronomy Outreach Committee for this week’s Stargazer.

Legendary blues harmonica player Charlie Musselwhite has had a long career, and many critical musical relationships. He performs tonight at the Kaua'i Beach Resort and Saturday at the Honoka'a People's Theatre, and took time to be on All Things Considered with Honolulu Host Dave Lawrence while in the islands.   

  

This week on Helping Hand we’re learning about Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children, a non-profit that, according to their website, is home to Hawai‘i’s  only Children's Miracle Network Hospital, with our guest Celina Barrios, Director of Marketing and Philanthropy at Hawai‘i Pacific Health.

Today on the statewide afternoon drive version of All Things Considered on HPR1, during this holiday that includes among the heaviest traveling in the United States, we learn more about the remarkable journey of Harapan, the Sumatran Rhinoceros, and his 10,000 mile, 53-hour trip from the Cincinnati Zoo to the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary. HPR All Things Considered Honolulu Host Dave Lawrence reports.

This week on Helping Hand we’re learning about United Self-Help. They are a local non-profit organization whose mission, according to their website, is to promote mental health through education and mutual support. We are excited to welcome them for their first appearance on Helping Hand, with United Self-Help’s Bud Bowles.

Musician Joe Louis Walker is back in the islands, performing as part of the O'ahu Jazz and Blues Festival. He took time for a call into HPR's All Things Considered with Honolulu Host Dave Lawrence.
